| History Archiver |
|
|
| The objective
of History Archiver is to copy GoldMine History and
Filed Mailbox (completed E-Mail) records to a pair of
archive files (one for History, one for Mailbox), delete
the records from GoldMine and then synchronize the deletions
(per user option) to other GoldMine systems within the
organization. |
|
|
| |
| The benefit of History Archiver is the
following: archiving data from one or more years ago frees
up drive space and allows systems to run faster when processing
History data for synchronization, Filters and Reports and
daily backup. Archiving preserves the data and prohibits them
from being inadvertently deleted or changed. |
| |
| The user selects the cut-off date, types
of GoldMine Activities to be archived (defaulting to All)
and if the removed (deleted) records are marked for synchronization.
The procedure can be run for the current Contact Record, a
Group of Contact records or all Contact Records. The program
works with both dBase and SQL-based systems but the data are
archived into DBF files which can be removed after the procedure
is complete. |
| |
| A separate in built program History Retriever would come with History Archiver which
will allow for archived data to be retrieved into GoldMine
from the archive files (this program will be provided at no
additional charge to all purchasers of History Archiver).

| Requirements and Compatibility |
| |
| History Archiver requires GoldMine 5.0
and above or GoldMine Sales & Marketing and is compatible
with either the xBase or MS SQL back-end database. The computer
where you will install History Archiver must have a properly-configured
GoldMine program, Borland BDE and MS SQL Client (if using
the SQL back-end). The program creates (at your option) "sync
aware" changes to GoldMine so it is suggested that you install
History Archiver on the main GoldMine system within your organization
and allow the deletions to synchronize out to other sites
and undocked users. If you believe that the volume of deletions
will create a strain on your synchronization procedure, you
can install the program on all remote sites and all undocked
users' systems and instruct the users to archive for the same
date but without selecting the synchronization of deletions
option (this issue is discussed in detail, below). |
| |
| You must have Master Rights to run History
Archiver on a given GoldMine system. |
| |
| Once the archive files are created, they
can be removed from the computer on which they are created
to free-up space. Additional details and considerations for
this product are provided in the user documentation. |
