VMI Web Import
 

The objective of VMI Web Import is to allow direct data input from an HTML web form into GoldMine via an Active Server Page (ASP) script written in Visual Basic (VB Script). The standard GoldMine approach uses a CGI script that creates a MAILTO item that sends an e-mail message with the data. When the message is read via the GoldMine e-mail reader, GoldMine recognizes the message and imports the data. If a computer is not constantly monitoring for these e-mail items, then there will be a delay in having the data available within GoldMine.

 
 

The primary advantage of VMI Web Import is that the data are entered directly into the GoldMine database from the web form via the script; this makes the data immediately available from within GoldMine. An additional advantage of VMI Web Import is the use of VB Script as the processing tool. The VB Script uses the GoldMine Application Program Interface (API) functions specifically those developed using the Component Object Model (COM) technique. These procedures use and enforce the GoldMine "business rules" governing how data are entered into GoldMine which provides a very rich and powerful tool for processing the data before, during and after they are entered into GoldMine.

 

Pricing
 

Basic: The cost of VMI Web Import is $495 which includes the software, documentation and up-to two hours of telephone / e-mail / instant messenger / facsimile support to be used for installation and configuration issues within the first 30 days of purchase.

 

Expanded: For a price of $1,995, your organization will receive the same base forms, script and documentation as above along with the following services:

 

Up to eight hours of consulting services to review your GoldMine build (Fields, Views, Lookup table, Lookup.INI, Automated Processes and other relevant GoldMine procedures) to identify those components and processes that can be captured by the form and processed by the script.

   

To re-work the HTML form to capture the additional fields using additional text boxes, check boxes and/or radio buttons. The revised form will typically include your company logo, custom messages, desired background color, etc.

   

The installation, configuration, testing / verification and briefing on the management of the form and script data.

   

These eight hours will tech support via of telephone/ e-mail / instant messenger / facsimile support to be used for installation and configuration issues within the first 30 days of installation.

Any thing over 8 hours will be charged at our standard hourly rate.

 

The objective of these services is to deliver a single customized form and script that is similar in scope and performance to the one Vertical Marketing customized for itself. The expected number of components that can be added to the base form and script are:

 

Any remaining fields on the Main Contact screen (including the 5 Key Fields) and up to 20 User Defined Fields

   
Up to 3 Additional Contacts
   

One "SELECT" statement that, based upon such values as State, Zip Code or another value entered onto the form, updates one or more Key or User Defined Fields (e.g., when State = "NY" then update Key1 with the code for the assigned sales rep for that state); these are the same kind of updates that are available via the GoldMine "Lookup.INI" file

   

Up to 15 GoldMine component additions (Scheduled Activities, Completed Activities, Referrals, Additional Contacts or Detail Records)

   
 

Note: the form does not "read" the GoldMine Lookup tables values due to fact that the form does not interact with the GoldMine database until the Submit button is clicked. However, the Lookup table values can be included for the text box fields on the form with the understanding that additions or subtractions to the values of a given field in GoldMine must be manually changed on the form as well. As part of the installation, configuration and management service, we will show you how to add and subtract these values on the form.

 

Additional customization work for the form and script beyond this threshold or for work on the development of additional forms and scripts is available from Vertical Marketing on a time and materials basis.
